Application Deadline Passes for NE Gaming Zone
TOPEKA, KAN. – The deadline for groups to submit their applications to manage a state-owned casino in the Northeast Gaming Zone of Kansas has passed. The deadline for applications was 5 p.m., Monday, December 31, 2007.
The Kansas Lottery received six applications from groups interested in locating a casino in Wyandotte County. Golden Gaming submitted an application December 27, followed by Pinnacle Entertainment and Kansas Entertainment LLC on December 28. Legends Sun submitted an application December 31. Sands Kansas LLC submitted two applications on December 31 – one for an Edwardsville location, the other for a Kansas City, Kan., location.
The original deadline for the Northeast Gaming Zone was October 1, 2007. The Lottery Commission extended the deadline to December 31, 2007, at the request of the Unified Government of Wyandotte County.
The Lottery has 90 days, until March 28, 2008, to review the applications and negotiate contracts with the applicants. The Lottery will then forward any contract that is negotiated to the Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board for its consideration.
The deadline for the Northeast Gaming Zone was the fourth of four deadlines this month. Applications to manage a state-owned casino in the Southeast Zone (Crawford and Cherokee counties) were due December 6; applications in the Southwest Zone (Ford Co.) were due December 26; applications in the South Central Zone (Sumner Co.) were due December 28; and groups had until December 31 to submit applications for the Northeast Zone (Wyandotte Co.).
